It traps soot and normally burns it off on its own. When it can’t keep up, soot and ash build up until the filter restricts the engine. Warning light?
A GPF, OPF or particulate filter warning means soot and ash are blocking the filter. Don’t wait for limp mode. If you keep driving, the car will lose power and sooner or later stop altogether, which makes it harder and more expensive to fix. If the car won’t run, the filter has to come off for a factory clean. Call us as soon as the light comes on.
Why do petrol filters block?
Short journeys, hybrids whose petrol engine barely runs, oil burning and sensor faults can all stop the filter clearing. We clean it and tell you what caused it, so it’s less likely to come back.

Home or Office, no extra charge
Dealers often go straight to a new filter. It’s expensive and you lose the use of your car while you wait for the part and fitting. Where the filter is sound, cleaning is just as effective and much cheaper and faster. We do it on the spot, wherever you are.

Hybrids and plug-in hybrids
Hybrids are especially prone to blocked petrol particulate filters. The petrol engine may only run in short bursts, so the filter rarely gets hot enough for long enough to clear itself. We clean hybrid filters the same way, and we’ll explain how the car’s use may be contributing.
GPF Removal
Removing or tampering with a particulate filter is illegal in the UK. It is an automatic MOT failure and can invalidate your insurance. The correct solution is cleaning, or replacement where necessary.
